Dick

DeForest Press, Inc. is a small independent publishing company started in 1994 by Dick Erickson, a Lutheran pastor. It’s first book, Stress Recess, was written by Dick and was going to be published by a company specializing in books on health and wellness. After waiting for two years, Dick decided to publish the book himself. Today, Stress Recess is in its third printing.

Dick soon found stories written by others that deserved to be published as well. He discovered, however, that most authors were either overwhelmed by the prospect of getting his or her book published or didn’t know how to proceed. So he wrangled his friend and fellow pastor, Shane Groth, who was also an author and editor, to help him with the editing, page layout and computer work for some of the books. Thus began DeForest Press.

DeForest Press is based in the Midwest and the books we produce are reflections of our values. We still believe that “Everyone is a story...every one deserving to be told.” We believe in the importance of hearing and telling stories that show the true character of people. In fact, most of our books are true stories about real people. They are the heroes that live in our backyard.

When good books are published and good stories told, we are all the richer because of it.
