Usually, when you suffer a stroke while driving your car and hit a school bus head-on, that’s the end of the story. But for Bernie Oldenkamp, it was the beginning of a miracle. His book, Another Bethesda Miracle, details the steps of his long journey and struggle to recover from a near-fatal accident that left him unconscious for nearly a month. Bernie shares his amazing story of how he coped with a life-changing disaster with help of family, friends, faith, and the community while recovering at Bethesda Hospital in Saint Paul, Minnesota. His wit and humor are evident in this moving story of a teacher’s struggle to beat the odds while learning new lessons about what it means to really live.
What The Critics Are Saying:
"Bernie Oldenkamp’s first-hand account of this horrific event gives us insight, hope and appreciation. He eases the ride for the reader with his humor, humility and grace."
Dawn Slade, Mille Lacs County Times Reporter
"You will be intrigued by Bernie Oldenkamp’s inside story of how it feels to suffer a stroke and to recover from one. As at the first Bethesda miracle, he has to wait and endure some amusing ‘stirrings of the waters’ before recovery comes."
Dr. Steven J. Keillor
